I was immersed in my daily Bible reading when I realized that I experience a unique comfort from it. I value the Bible as a very special place into which I can go. It’s like a zone of its own amazing texture and color. It also carries an aroma and a taste that is pleasant and appealing. Yes, I’m talking about the Word of God. This is a place that’s always open to us. We can find in our hearts, which means we can go to it without physically going anywhere. Psalm 34:8 (NLT) says, “Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!” Many places in the Bible describe feasts in some king’s palace. These feasts often were given by people who were enemies of God. Eventually, what they tasted was bitter and final. Contrast this with the feast we can enjoy every day. Its sweetness just grows, and will eventually culminate in a feast in heaven, known as “the marriage supper of the Lamb” (You will find this feast in Revelation 19:7-9).
I’m Dr. Bob. You don’t have to wait for this feast in heaven. You can live in that zone that carries the same special aroma, taste, texture and color. Grab your Bible, feast on His Word and enjoy! Jeremiah 15:16 (NKJV) says, “Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts.”
