Oswald Chambers said, “The root of all sin is the suspicion that God isn’t really good.”[1] Here’s the truth. God is good – all the time! Our circumstances and their potential outcomes may be good, bad or perhaps as yet, unknown. Nevertheless in everything, we can thank God for His goodness. His response to what we face will always be good, because that’s His nature. Psalm 92:1 says, “It is good to give thanks to the Lord, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High.”
We may not always understand how He responds, but His ways are higher than ours and He’s never obligated to explain things. He has, however, obligated Himself to love us. It’s built into His character. It’s inherent in His divine nature. It’s His unfailing promise Therefore, it’s always worth giving thanks to Him for the goodness of Who He is – our loving Lord and Savior. Knowing this, we can anticipate His intervention and care. We can be completely assured that His will shall be accomplished… and yes, it will be very good!
It’s always good to remember the Lord for what He’s done. We can give thanks and we can have a lifestyle of praising Him. Thanksgiving and praise both work together and are excellent habits to cultivate. We may even find that God has moved without our even asking Him. We should cultivate the awareness and a faith that God is forever faithful, always able and completely willing to intervene for us, as only He can – Yes, He can!
