As I was doing my Bible reading this morning, I reflected on what has sustained me through the many trials and challenges I have faced. With every word of every chapter I read, it struck me that my only sure defense has been God and His Word. This was so clear to me, as I was thinking about those times when I had nowhere else to turn. You can argue with someone about many things, but will never successfully argue with a person’s experience. My own experience has taught me that when it appears that there’s nowhere for me to go for relief, there still remains a place I can always go. That place is found in the pages of a Bible, or equally as well, in the Word of God that I have hidden in my heart.
Psalm 63:6-8 (NKJV) says, “When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches. {7} Because You have been my help, Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice. {8} My soul follows close behind You; Your right hand upholds me.”
God will never leave you stranded or stuck without hope. He will always show you the way if you hold fast to the course He set for you in His Word. After all, He is our hope. I’m Dr. Bob. We find completely our hope through God’s Son Jesus. You can bank on that because Jesus is fully dependable, unfailingly capable and willing to be your help. That’s what grace is all about. He is filled with grace and it defines His heart. I think we ought to all reflect on how much we imitate Him in this particular area.
