Podcast: Stumbling or Stepping?

I have been thinking about people who stumble through life as though they had no purpose except to do whatever they want at the moment. This is a conscious lifestyle choice. The result is that nobody else’s lives are better because of their presence. Colossians 1:9-10, in The New Living Bible says, “For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; {10} that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;”

To some of us, it may not seem important that there are so many people living without purpose. In fact, you could argue that it’s their right to live with this way, with a “Why should I care?” attitude. However, the trail of meaninglessness and lost opportunities such people leave behind is a completely selfish waste. It’s as if they just stumble through life in the dark, never finding God’s purpose or will. A purposeless life is not just a waste, but it becomes deadly to the well being of the one who lives it. There is an opportunity for each of us to have a life’s pattern of purposeful steps. This would carry anyone out of the darkness of futility and purposelessness into the light of significance. Doing this would also likely draw lots of people into a better life along the way. Think about this. Are you stumbling through the night or taking purposeful steps into the light?
