I Saw Santa in an Elevator.

I was walking in the mall a couple weeks before Christmas. I happened to look through the glass elevator at man dressed as Santa Claus. He was riding down from the second level to the first. He was on his way to meet with children about what they would like for Christmas. There’s nothing unusual about this, and I certainly have no problem with people taking their kids to see Santa at the mall. I’m sharing this with you because it was one of those occasions when the Holy Spirit showed me something extraordinary in what was completely ordinary. This Santa in the elevator was a secular icon of Christmas, descending to his place of prominence. This scene impressed upon my heart the real event of Christmas – that Christ came the first time as a baby in a humble stable.  Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV) says, “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Christ will come a second time, and it won’t be in an elevator or as a baby in a humble stable. He will descend from the clouds, riding a majestic white warhorse. He will return as the glorious “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” Multitudes will witness His coming. He will go to His place of prominence, which will be His throne, before which every knee will bow. He will come as the all-conquering King and Judge. Will you be rejoicing over His return, or wishing you had rejoiced over an opportunity lost that was freely offered for your salvation?

Revelation 19:11-16 (NKJV) says, “Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. {12} His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. {13} He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. {14} And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. followed Him on white horses. {15} Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. {16} And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND
LORD OF LORDS.”
