Clowns Feeding Goats

I have always enjoyed from reading the works of Charles Spurgeon. He wrote this in 1879: “A time will come, instead of shepherds feeding the sheep, the church will have clowns feeding the goats.” It’s easy to relate this to the way some approach their responsibility to feed God’s people with His Word. They seem to be like clowns feeding goats. In Matthew 25:32 (NKJV), Jesus speaking of Himself at His second coming, said, “All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides a sheep from his goat.”

Here is some thought to feed your spirit: In the end, the King will recognize as sheep those whose compassion toward others was compassion toward Him. Those who refused to have compassion toward others will be guilty of refusing the same toward Him. They will be the goats. They will be given over to a tragic, terrible end. Theirs will be a fate that was never the King’s desire, but their refusal to honor Him through their care and concern toward others will seal it. I’m Dr. Bob. Goats will have no place awaiting them in God’s kingdom. Take care to be fed the Word of God by a God-fearing pastor, and not by a clown. Take care not to become a goat. Selah
