The Remedy for Laziness

There may be times when know you it is right to do something, and you know it is God’s will that you do it, but you just feel too lazy to do so. This can become a life-controlling habit that will keep you from the joy of success and significance. This should be a warning bell to you. Proverbs 26:15 (NKJV)says, “The lazy man buries his hand in the bowl; It wearies him to bring it back to his mouth.” Proverbs 26:14 (NKJV) says, “As a door turns on its hinges, so does the lazy man on his bed.”

Here are three biblical principles concerning laziness. First, laziness is a trap, a snare and something of which to be wary. Avoid it at all costs. Second, obedience is the necessary ingredient for success and significance. Do it at all costs. Otherwise, you will wake up one day, knowing you have wasted your life Third, willingness to put your heart into what God calls you to do is vital, especially when you don’t feel like it. Zeal ought to be a product of your being willing to go the extra mile with effort and excellence, once you know that God has directed your path.

Perhaps there are things that you know are of God, but which you have only reluctantly worked at. A lack of enthusiasm toward the will of God should be a signal that you are to put your heart into it, even if you don’t feel like it. Never resist the will of God. Is it time to ignite a fire under your attitudes and efforts?
