I would like to share the spiritual secret to becoming a generous giver. Just remember this time-tested truth. “It is easy to be generous with somebody else’s money.” On the surface, this may not seem to be very spiritual. However, everything we have belongs to God, who is our provider. He asks us to trust Him with all He puts in our hands. Because we understand that all our resources and wealth belong to Him, we can be relieved of any pressure to hoard what He has given us. We simply have stewardship over our wealth. If you do not think this is spiritual, let me point you to the Bible.
Proverbs 11:24-25, 28 (NKJV)
“There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads to poverty. {25} The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself. {28} He who trusts in his riches will fall, But the righteous will flourish like foliage.”
In Christ, we are free to be generous with what we have. Why? Because it is easy to be generous with somebody else’s money – in this case, with God’s money. Remember, you will never out give God! My dear friend, Pastor David Briggs recently said, “Money, wealth and giftings are directional.”He said that if you sow these things into your purpose, you would be rewarded with so much more than you sowed. You will fulfill your call from God. You will reach your destiny, and do so with good success. You will have traveled in the direction of God-pleasing service and gained eternal significance. My advice is simple. Sow generously what God has given you. Then, expect great things… all the way to your destiny.
