A Demon Fortress

I recently came across a post-it note that has been in my Bible next to Philippians, Chapter 1 for years. I do not remember when I wrote it, or why I stuck it to that page, but there it was, speaking to me, as if it was freshly written. It said, “Strongholds can be the root cause of your failure. Give a demon a home and he will make it a fortress.” These words caught my attention, and I put down my Bible and began to meditate on them. As I sat there meditating on the post-it note, I remembered 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. The New International Version (NIV) says, “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. {4} The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. {5} We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

Consider this. The way to avoid or destroy strongholds is to capture every thought and demand that it be obedient to Christ. This leaves no room for demons even to think about trying to influence us, let alone build strongholds or fortresses of evil in or around us. Here is one final thought. It comes from Psalm 18:2 (NKJV). It says, “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” Be sure the only stronghold in your life is the LORD. I’m Dr. Bob. How can you “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ”? Be sure you provide yourself with a practical answer.
