When trouble finds you, start telling your trouble and anyone else who can hear, just how big your God is. Be sure you are also speaking to yourself. At the moment trouble comes, you are the most important person who needs to hear how big God really is. The Shunammite woman understood this. When her son suddenly died, she quickly went to Elijah. 2 Kings 4:25-26 (NKJV) says, “And so she departed, and went to the man of God at Mount Carmel. So it was, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to his servant Gehazi, “Look, the Shunammite woman! {26} “Please run now to meet her, and say to her, ‘Is it well with you? Is it well with your husband? Is it well with the child?’ “ And she answered, “It is well.””
When Elijah’s servant, Gehazi, asked the Shunammite woman if she was in trouble, all she said was, “It is well.” It was not denial of the facts. It was a statement of her unusual faith. She refused to be denied. She knew that God, working through Elijah, was well able to help her. The principle remains valid today. Speak words of faith. Then, even when it seems hopeless, keep believing. God can always make the impossible become reality. This usually comes through someone of compassion, who walks close to God, as Elijah did. Expect your miracle. God is forever faithful. The Shunammite woman spoke to her trouble and declared that God was bigger than it was. I’m Dr. Bob and here is the lesson. If trouble rears its ugly head, speak to it, to others and to yourself, of how faithful and overwhelming the power of God is. Then, expect your miracle.
