Love is found in Unexpected Places and People.

Recently I was with the Living Streams Chinese Church in Brooklyn. In the congregation was a young woman, about twenty years old. She had come to New York from a background of rejection by her mother in China, who regretted she had not been born a boy. Her mother had never been kind or affectionate to her. This is culturally common behavior in China. The young woman eventually came to America and found a warm welcome at Living Streams Church. The church arranged for her to work, caring for a very old woman who had Alzheimer’s disease, and lived next door to the church. She had diminished mental capabilities, but retained a great capacity to love.

The simple expressions of love this sweet elderly woman gave the younger woman were priceless. Her life was changed forever. The love she never had, while growing up, was now a precious gift from God. It came from someone the rest of the world saw as useless and past caring about. God can take two people who are at the bottom of life’s cruel circumstances, put them together, and lift them up. Matthew 25:40 (NKJV) says, “And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’” I’m Dr. Bob. What simple expression of love could you give to someone today that would change his or her outlook forever? To whom could you give it?
