Seasoned with What?

I want to encourage you to have a constant desire for God. Let your passion for Him burn inside, throughout all the days of your life, all the way to the end. This will not really be the end, but only the beginning of a glorious eternity with Him. Matthew 5:13 (NKJV) says, “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.” Mark 9:50 (NKJV) says, “Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another.”

What does it take to keep you “salty,” or to keep your passion and zeal alive and growing? What does it take to keep you fresh and motivated? The answer is to turn to Christ’s monumental sacrifice for you. Remind yourself of how incredible it is that you have His love and favor. Reach out to the Gift Jesus sent you in the Person of the Holy Spirit. I suppose there are a thousand more ways to be “the salt of the earth” and preserve your zeal for Christ. The truth is, you are the only one who can season yourself with salt. You are the one who God wants to pour out on others so that, as Psalm 34:8 (NKJV) says, they may “taste and see that the Lord is good.” I’m Dr. Bob. Remember to guard your heart always from growing stale or cold. Reflect on what this requires of you. How well are you meeting the requirements? And… what can you do to change?
