Failing to Prepare is Preparing to Fail.

I was listening to a sports program on TV and heard one of the analysts say, “Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.” This principle is easily demonstrated in athletics. I also have observed its truthfulness in every area of life. Think about how necessary preparation is for students in school. Without proper preparation, they surely fail the tests they take. Now, this principle is valid for a lifetime. We constantly find ourselves being tested. Sometimes we expect it, but at other times, the test is a surprise.

Psalms 119:162 (NKJV) says, “I rejoice at Your word As one who finds great treasure.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, {17} that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Think about this. There is one pattern of preparation that will never fail you. I am referring to the pattern of spending daily time in the Word of God. This creates two things. First, it creates a reservoir of instruction and a knowledge base that is able to equip you to succeed in every circumstance. Second, it creates a base of understanding about who God is. Knowing God and His Word enables you to place your complete faith and trust in Him, as you prepare for each day of your life.
