I recently heard Mrs. Ann Romney speaking on TV about having to live with a form of multiple sclerosis. She said that when added to the pressures she faces as the wife of a presidential candidate; it can be a heavy burden. She likened it to carrying a bag of rocks on your back. Mrs. Romney acknowledged that, if she handled them poorly, the pressures could become so heavily burdensome that they would contribute to her disease. This would increase the danger of her becoming a victim of her circumstances. When she said this, I thought of Jesus’ invitation to us in Matthew 11:28-30 (NKJV). He said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. {29} Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. {30} For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.””
We can take the heavy burdens off our backs and exchange them for the Christ’s light burdens. We all experience those times when we need to make this trade with the Lord. Why don’t you measure the weight of whatever it is that you are carrying? Then trade it for what Jesus has for you. You will find life so much easier than carrying what seems like a bag of rocks on your back. Jesus said to “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me.” This means that exchanging our heavy burdens for those light ones He provides can be a learning experience. Reflect on what this can mean for you. There is one more thing. Will you take a few minutes and join with me to pray for Mrs. Romney.
