Mentoring Ministry

Providing biblical teaching resources for the next generation.

Dear to Him

I was doing a leadership teaching by Skype to students in Pastor Bill Schwartz’s Bible school class in Belgium. They were a great group and it was exciting to see their enthusiasm. After I had finished my session with them and signed off, I sat down with my one-year old grandson, William. He was visiting us with his mom, who is my daughter Sarah. I started reading one of his books to him. It was essentially a seemingly indestructible book with pictures of brightly colored tractors and farm animals in it. 1 John 4:16 (NKJV) says, “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.”

After reading this simple child’s book to my grandson, William, I realized that there were three lessons to be learned. The first lesson was that God’s blessings can be found in almost everything I put my heart into. I was blessed by my grandson, William. I was blessed by the students in Belgium. Second, I realized that God was also blessed by the presence of His abiding love in the midst of both of these occasions. The third lesson was that the greatest of His servants is no dearer to Him than the smallest child. All three lessons led me (and I hope they lead you) to the reality of God’s great, unbiased, love for all of us. I’m Dr. Bob. How often are you aware of God’s love for you in the activities of your day? Are you aware that He just spoke to you through His Spirit just now?
