Fresh and Flourishing

With time, we all have a tendency to lose our passion for the work of the Lord. We can fall victim to becoming joyless and too laid back. This is a common temptation. I love Psalm 92:12-15 (NKJV). As I have grown older, it has become a great encouragement to me. I read it every day. It says, in the NKJV, The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. {13} Those who are planted in the house of the LORD Shall flourish in the courts of our God. {14} They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing, {15} To declare that the LORD is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.”

As I grow older, I really identify with Verse 14. In particular, the part that says to be “flourishing.” The word “flourishing” means to be vigorous and thriving. This encourages me that I can keep going and thrive in all God has assigned me to do. My advice is that you if you are feeling sluggish or lethargic toward what God has called you to do, replace that feeling with an awareness of God’s energizing presence. He will help you to be “fresh and flourishing.” Then, go give the devil an extra large headache. You can do it. You are looking good. I’m Dr. Bob. If you are having trouble with what I am saying, ask God to help you be fresh and flourishing once more. Then you will vigorously thrive in all God has called you to.
