Have you considered that the authority inherent in God’s love, when working in us, is the authority to control every unloving thought that previously may have controlled us and defined far too much of our daily lives. God’s love, and its authority to transform us, was planted in our hearts the moment we gave our lives to Christ. I often have used Romans 12:2 in previous Mentoring Minutes. It fits so well here that I will use it again. This time, the New Living Translation is my choice because it speaks so clearly of the point. Here is what is says.
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.”
God’s love provides us with all the potential for transformation that we will ever need. If you need to transform your thinking and thus, your actions, it is time to surrender to the transformation love’s authority brings. Then, you will consistently give evidence of the perfect will of God, which is that you are free of bondage to your former thinking and its worldly ways of controlling you. You will become God’s love demonstration. You will be His weapon of grace. When God’s love has dominion within you, it brings the ability to smother the hopelessness and negativity in others who just need a touch from God… through you! Reflect on what this can mean for you.
