Proper Tailoring, Proper Fit

I want to share an ordinary, everyday experience I recently had, in which God spoke an extraordinary truth to me. It happened as I was taking a pair of pants from my closet. I put them on, but found that they did not fit well. They were too tight. This was not because I had gained weight, but because they were tailored poorly when I bought them. I knew this, but I had forgotten it. I quickly remembered that I have never been comfortable with on them. Galatians 3:27 (NKJV) says, “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”

Here is the principle I want to share with you. It is a principle that was tailor made by the Holy Spirit, especially for you. Please listen carefully. Be careful what you put on. Wear only what fits you. Perhaps you realize that I am not talking about pants alone. I am referring to the personal character in which you dress yourself. More specifically, I am pointing you to the character of Christ, which you have had the opportunity to put on. If your choice is to wear the character of Christ, you will find it to be a perfect fit. Do you fit properly in what you are wearing, and if it is anything other than Christ’s character, does it feel comfortable or uncomfortable?
