In What Are You Cloaked?

I’m Dr. Bob and for just a Mentoring Minute I want to share a thought that I heard from Bishop Tony Miller. It’s about what a man used to wear. You can read about it in Mark 10, verses 46-52. This is a narrative about a blind man whose name was Bartimaeus. He heard Jesus was passing by and cried out for mercy. He wanted to be healed of his blindness. As Jesus responded with an invitation for Bartimaeus to come to him, the man jumped up, threw off his outer garment, and made his way to Jesus. Why was this significant? In those days, blind people did not have red-tipped canes. The cloaks they wore were marked to identify them as blind. By throwing off his cloak, Bartimaeus signified he was moving into a new realm of possibilities and anticipated a move of God in his life. It was faith in action, pure and simple. Jesus said, in Matthew 11:4-5 (NKJV) “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: {5} The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.” I’m Dr. Bob. Whatever marks you with limitations ought not to be allowed to continue to wrap itself around you. Throw it off and wrap yourself in faith.
