Do Not Lose It At Gilboa

I’m Dr. Bob, and for just a Mentoring Minute I want to warn you stay away from Gilboa. Let me explain. The Bible records, in First Samuel, that King Saul gathered the Israelites for battle against the Philistines. Chapter 28, Verse 5 tells us Saul’s heart trembled in fear before them. We learn that hHe and his sons were subsequently slain in the battle. Throughout life, every person’s journey often passes close to, or through his or her own personal Gilboas – places of fear and danger. When yours does, resist every temptation to stop and visit. Just keep moving. Be especially careful not to climb to the top of the mountain upon which Gilboa sits. It is always a dangerously slippery slope. You will suddenly find yourself slipping and coming down out of control. The end of the slide will inevitably be painful. Here is some advice that will keep you on a solid footing. Psalms 26:1 (NKJV) says, “Vindicate me, O LORD, For I have walked in my integrity. I have also trusted in the LORD; I shall not slip.” As you move past your own personal Gilboas, stay close to your great walking Partner, the Holy Spirit. Trust Him, have courage and get in step with Him. Then, keep walking. I ‘m Dr. Bob. You can listen to additional Mentoring Minutes at Invite a few friends to join you. I know it will bless them.
