The Switch Of Faith

I’m Dr. Bob. For just a Mentoring Minute, I want to encourage you about those times when you face things that are bigger than you are. It will be uncomfortable and maybe even discouraging or worse. Discouragement, disappointment, or even fear are perfectly normal responses. Here is my suggestion. Just keep the switch of faith turned to the “on” position. Hebrews 11:1 (NLT) asks a question about faith and then gives a great answer. It says, “What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see.” I would like to add my paraphrase of this verse. “What is faith? It is the confident assurance that when we are discouraged or disappointed… or perhaps even fear, we can still rest in our hope for the best. Faith is the evidence of God in action. After all, He is the best! Even though we may not yet see it, we can have the confident assurance God’s help will show itself in time to make a difference.” It may take a while, but keep trusting that your faith will sustain you until God delivers you. There are two lessons to be learned here. First, your faith will have staying power as long as you keep your eyes fixed on God. Second, the substance of your faith, the things you hope for, is real. When God is in it, it will come to pass. Yes, it will. I’m Dr. Bob. That’s a Mentoring Minute worth keeping for a lifetime.
