I’m Dr. Bob, and for just a Mentoring Minute, I would like to ask if you recall the times when you, as a child, opened a gift, only to find it had a label that said, “Batteries not included.” To your disappointment, you found your gift was useless until someone was able to provide you batteries with which to power it. This is a picture of our lives without the power of the Holy Spirit. The bible tells us, in Acts 1:8 (NKJV) that “…you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you…” Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would provide the daily power we need for all of life’s challenges, opportunities, and especially, those significance events we all will face. Like any gift, the power of the Holy Spirit must be welcomed, received and connected to what (or who) it is intended to energize. Ask yourself this. Have you have embraced and connected to the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in your life? As you do, you will be guaranteed that God’s power is available to you. What you do with it is then your choice. I highly recommend you plug into it and let it work, by submitting to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Just walk in faith and obedience.
