Faith that goes beyond Outcomes

A dear friend, who is a pastor I trained and released to the mission field just experienced the death of one of his disciples. His church had fasted and prayed, but in the end, to no avail. The deep sorrow that accompanies such times is unavoidable. Death in the face of (and in spite of) the exercise of great faith can be a puzzling thing. However, it always brings me back to the realization that my faith cannot be based on outcomes. I simply look to the Lord, exercise my faith, and trust Him for the outcomes. Then, regardless of the outcomes, my determination is to see my personal faith and the faith of those I lead to just grow stronger. The outcomes are not the issue. Looking into the light and holding onto Who I see in the light is the only issue. For He is forever faithful! What do you think?
